Citizens for Engaged Communities

Citizens for Engaged Communities, Inc., (CEC) seeks to promote civic engagement through grassroots partnerships, innovating learning activities, and citizen initiatives in societies striving to create sustainable, community-driven transformations. Our vision is for fully-engaged communities to achieve peaceful solutions to social problems. We work with local organizations across Eastern and Central Europe and Central Asia, conducting workshops and engaging in community-building activities that foster increased citizen engagement and sustainable community-building practices.

We are a 501(c)(3) US tax-exempt organization incorporated on July 6, 2009, in the state of North Carolina, in the United States of America.

CEC was formed by a group of engaged individuals who are passionate about the work of our partner organization: Educational Society for Malopolska (MTO) and felt that a greater impact can be made by creating a U.S.-based partner organization.

MTO is a Polish organization, based in Nowy Sacz, that promotes a democratic school environment, innovative teaching methods and responsible citizenship. CEC and MTO, working with local organizations across Eastern and Central Europe and Central Asia, conduct workshops and community-building activities that foster increased citizen engagement and sustainable community-building practices.
